Physolator in Teaching

Physical simulations bring together different STEM qualifications:

  • physical modelling
  • imperative programming
  • geometry and graphic graphics programming
  • numerics
  • objektorientierte Modellierung

This collection of exercises is aimed at students from school or university with different levels qualifications. The exercises motivate them to deal with different topics from the STEM area.

The tasks have different degrees of difficulty. In the entry-level tasks, individual STEM qualifications are trained in an isolated way: exercises that deal exclusively with graphic programming, other exercises that deal exclusively with physical modelling, other tasks that deal exclusively with object-oriented programming, etc. For the advanced exercises, the qualifications acquired in the introductory exercises are applied in combination. This requires an interdisciplinary style of working. The advanced exercises are more extensive and are suitable for project work with several people.

All exercises use the same IT infrastructure. Programming is always done in Java. The Java classes are loaded into the Physolator framework and executed or simulated there. Once you have installed the IT infrastructure consisting of Java development environment and Physolator and have familiarized yourself with the use of this IT infrastructure, you can work on very different tasks with this infrastructure.
